Artist's Statement 

 

"My work results from years of searching for my personal expression. The creative process is a permanent dialog with the artworks, allowing them to appear as freely as possible. It gives me the possibility to rescue old memories, hopes, and fears, as well as unexpected parts of myself. 

 

I owe it to music and dance, as well as the colors and movements I depict in my paintings. The choreography of colors and lines and the spontaneity in gestures and palettes are all guided by a non-verbal state of mind. The beauty of mathematics also inspires my sense of accuracy and discipline. It serves as a counterpoint of the wildest instincts in the act of creation. No restrictions are in place, but there is a synergy between chaos and order. The result I try to achieve is a work that speaks for itself with its voice, sending a message of freedom and closeness with the viewer, who is invited to complete it."

 

 

 

Biography

 

Guillermo Arismendi is a Spanish artist. He was born in Caracas and established in Barcelona in 2000. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts and Advertising and has worked in Barcelona and Tenerife since 1990.

Guillermo Arismendi has been sharing his time as a Senior Post-production Director and Motion Graphic Designer while honing his artistic skills. His professional journey has led him to work with many international clients, including industry giants like Sony, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Renault, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Burger King, MacDonald, and numerous Spanish corporations and leading brands.

He has been painting for over 30 years, developing his language to express a personal view. Many influences have contributed to his work's distinctive signature: music, dance, calligraphy, science, and many other elements freely blended in.

​

In the last few years, he has produced digital paintings alongside his oil works. The possibility of creating high-resolution artworks in the digital environment has allowed him to take a more experimental and risky approach. The result is a series of artworks in which the joy of improvisation and unexpected color palettes express the artist's personality. The synergy between traditional oil painting and digital art has improved the development of his distinctive language. His works are represented in private collections around the world.
